SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!
Yes the white death has left her mark on Iowa City and while it was nice to have Wednesday off, that fun is over and is now replaced with lots of cold.
That video thing I was talking about? Uh...yeah...it's here: http://blip.tv/file/2949973 If you have 9 minutes to waste, yeah. Obviously my style is very NC-like right now but that's why I'm making them and will eventually evolve into my own method. Already writing the script for episode 2, Black Star will hopefully provide more joke opportunities than Maka.
Not much else right now. Fearing finals like mad, but that's expected. |

So...in a bit of "just want to say I did it" I'm in the process of making a video review ala Nostalgia Critic/Linkara/Spoony. Although it's more a mix of their style plus Let's Play since I'm not purposely doing bad shows. In fact my pilot will be of Soul Eater ep 1, which is obviously a good show (at least in the beginning). If it's a hit and I become an INTERNET CELEBRITY, that's great. But if it bombs and I want to never speak of it again, oh well. It's pretty barebones since (1)I'm poor and (2)I don't want to go out and get good equipment just for it to bomb.
Last week of classes...should maybe figure out when MSD final is since I haven't gone to class in weeks. Other finals are set, only two tests, but two presentations...one to the high brass of the CoE in addition to a doctor that will try to pitch the idea to Johnson & Johnson for BIG BUCKS.
One week after taking Yoris from 29 to 51, he got all the way to......53 this week. Yeah, I wasn't playing WoW much.
But nevermind all that shit, EVERYBODY SAMURAI!

Remember a few entries ago where I wished I was back in early college? I think I figured out why. And I have a perfect example/similarity.
Remember early Bleach? We're talking mid- to late-Soul Society arc at the latest. Remember how smooth, unique, and new it felt and was? That to me defined my first year and a half here at UI. Fresh, new, unique, exciting, fun.
Look at Bleach now. The freshness is gone, the uniqueness washed away, and now it just feels like a mix of a chore and a habit. You tend to stop caring for a little bit and then knocking yourself back into it due to habit or in the case of school, to not fail. Every once in a while something will knock you back into having interest in it (Nel, an exciting class), but it still feels chore-like at times.
How strangely coincidental, since the Bleach anime debuted during, you guessed it, my first semester of freshman year. And as much as I try, I can't get that back. There's no turning back the clock. You can't go home again. The only thing to do is finish (or drop) and find a new series. Hopefully this publication ends in May and a new story will start.
Perhaps even a better one. |

You Scored as XIII: DeathDeath is probably the most well known Tarot card - and also the most misunderstood. Most Tarot novices would consider Death to be a bad card, especially given its connection with the number thirteen. In fact this card rarely indicates literal death.Without "death" there can be no change, only eventual stagnation. The "death" of the child allows for the "birth" of the adult. This change is not always easy. The appearance of Death in a Tarot reading can indicate pain and short term loss, however it also represents hope for a new future.

Yeah, stupid quizzes, hooray. And I'm sure I've used this title before. Oh well, only Persona-related one I can think of that will fit.
Back in Iowa City after a very uneventful break if you don't count me plugging away on my laptop playing WoW. I had been going the fresh start method, building a Hunter on WrA. Had a goal to get him to L40 by the end of the week. Ended up getting to L51. Oops.
Last few weeks of the semester, and most of what's left is projects which will all SUUUUUUUUUCK. Plus I feel like giving up on MSD. No good has ever come from that class. I know the prof means well, but his style and mine...just don't mesh at all.
Found out I'm getting a 40" LCD HDTV for Christmas with the obvious option for a PS3, so that's nice... |

So yeah, wisdom teeth out. After three days I'm pretty sick and tired of my mouth not being fully recovered yet because due to the surgery, I can't have hard food. Unfortunately it was during this time that all of my favorite foods classify as "hard". So yeah, once it fully heals by hopefully Saturday I will omnom until the end of time!
One thing I realized about Geass. It becomes more watchable when I get to see Nina do her psycho lesbian gig. That might be a problem with me, but who knows?
I can't seem to find my copy of Tales of the Abyss. But then again I haven't really been looking for it.
Damn...KFC commercial...that looks good... |

First of all:
 Hell yeah, motherfuckers.
Thanksgiving Break is upon us, which means one thing, TURKEY! getting my wisdom teeth removed...waitwut? Yeah, luckily that gives me plenty of time to relax and not worry about class and more on the RAGING PAIN IN MY MOUTH.
Mike's birthday weekend was quite enjoyable and a good old fashioned escape. Been looking up classes for my final(?) semester here and just need to find a good EFA class to round it all up. |

[Nov. 8th, 2009|12:39 pm] |
I wouldn't mind Patchy's life for a little bit. One of the most carefree lives I can think of...even with the frailty and asthma.
Umm...to put it simply...you know that graduation during ACEN thing...yeah. Chickens, hatch, etc. Obviously despite the guise of ACEN, that would not be a good thing.
Still treading water...barely. Heat Transfer is starting to get clear and when the professor, even with his many MANY teaching flaws, says that going from knowing nothing to showing progress alone is enough for him to warrant a passing grade, it's a bit of a relief off my chest. Especially now that I have a general clue what the FUCK is going on. But that's not the class I'm worrying about...
Mike's super awesome super sextacular birthday weekend is nigh alongside Thanksgiving Break without wisdom teeth which cuts the things I can do during break to basically playing games or watching stuff. So good deal. Except I know I won't be able to do all that I want. But the goals are to finish Geass (still kinda early R2), finish Abyss and possibly replay P4. Also might get around to watching Nanoha A's and StrikerS that have been on my lappy for god-long. |

[Nov. 4th, 2009|02:05 pm] |
...I'm starting to lose it...
As much as I try, my grades are in a tailspin. When I work my butt off and get one to tilt back up, the other two start to go down. I've barely had any time to myself and even now I'm studying for a test in Heat Transfer, where I have NO CLUE what's going on, at 5:30. But I also have a Project (the only thing going right and my only potential saving grace) meeting at 4:30. I might just tell the guys that I'm just going to be there for a minute time.
Work is definitely not helping, either. With my morning shifts, I find myself going to bed in the 10-11PM range, while I used to do my homework around midnight. I do try to get it shifted and done, but usually the C-store job will suck up a bit of that time as well.
I NEED a break. I NEED a reset button. I NEED to just plain ESCAPE.
Before the water gets too deep. |

| Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial |
[Oct. 11th, 2009|11:39 pm] |
I need my own personal Sakuya. Not even for sexy stuff. She can clean up and stop time if I just need relaxation time. Or time to finish off homework. Or just plain thirty more minutes of sleep.
I'm feeling over my head lately with classes, although most of it is in my ESD class which has its first midterm tomorrow and I am nowhere near prepared AND it's scheduled during a work shift and I've been putting out mass Emails and notices to everyone that works there to pick up my shift and still haven't gotten a word back...
I'm really just counting the days to Thanksgiving Break because I really REALLY need some sort of extended weekend. Although the fact that I should graduate at the end of the school year is really starting to come into the foreground, since I really have NO CLUE what to do once I graduate. I'm applying everywhere under the sun and really am clueless about all this. It really is just trying to get one job anywhere and then after that I'll know what way to go and hopefully have a light in the fog there.
Hopefully I'll get the call from basically anywhere but my hope lies with Procter and Gamble, mainly because they're in Iowa City and I wouldn't have to worry about moving. Of course, a Cedar Rapids company and MAYBE a Waterloo/CF or Quad Cities can work too. Or Des Moines where I can just move back to the family home...
...can I go back to freshman/sophomore year, please? Just don't revert me to under 21, ok? |

| Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? |
[Oct. 5th, 2009|10:48 pm] |
Whenever I want to write Youmu, I always have her comedic quirk be that she doesn't have one. Always taking things seriously and at face value. It often comes back to bite her in the ass. Or Yuyuko being the one to bite her...in either sense of the word.
Tired tired TIRED. It might be the early shifts at work getting to me, but I've recently been feeling the strain of the daily grind. Punch in, punch out, repeat until Saturday, enjoy football on Saturday, sleep all of Sunday, back to work. Of course, the Saturdays I don't mind. Love the Saturdays. But thanks to the grind, that sleeping Sunday is taking the place of dick around Sunday. Meh, I think I just need to get around to a mini-vacation, luckily one's around the corner.
The local game shoppe had $8 N64's so I snatched one with Mario and B-K. Cartridges were a bit more expensive than expected ($15-25 range) but hey, it's Mario and B-K on an actual N64, it's worth it. I'll have to grab an expansion pack though, since I wouldn't mind getting ahold of DK64 and MM as well.
With that as well, the PS3 plan has been delayed to Thanksgiving Break at the earliest. Also I still wouldn't be against getting ahold of a PSP eventually. Especially since I have contacts that'll help me crack the hell out of it. |

CAPTAIN MURASA SPICED RUM! IT'S LIKE AN ANCHOR TO YOUR FACE!
Well, one month of school in the books and I am exhausted. Although more so because of work over classes. But when it gives me about $500/month almost pure spending money (food is budgeted under that $500, bills/rent are not), it's hard to complain right now. Especially compared to Spring when that number was $0.
Haven't really played or watched or read anything all that important. Nor do you care to hear about Intermediate Heat Transfer. Nor do you want me to rave about the Hawks actually playing like a good team. Yeah.
I was also kinda looking at cons outside the usual two only because, as you already know, I can't make ACEN because of graduation. I was really intrigued by Nebraskon, but that falls on a home game weekend which is an immediate NO for me (Double bonus in that the game is Northwestern, and if all goes to plan it would finish the 'Six Years, Ten Beatdowns', meaning that in my six years at UI, I would've seen Iowa beat all ten other Big Ten teams at Kinnick. The only two I've yet to see Iowa win over is Michigan and NW). I also recently found out that Detour moved to a NOT TINY AS FUCK hotel which would be neat to check out, but that's in late April, which might be a bit too close to ACEN for the rest of the guys.
Anyways, sleep, I have to be up at 5:45 to get ready for work. OH BOY! |

[Sep. 8th, 2009|12:38 pm] |
So yeah, three day weekend. Great relaxation, shame it has to end. At least this week is shortened.
I'm been watching Umineko lately, glorious mindfuckery that doesn't really break the fourth wall. A better description would be it makes a hole in the fourth wall with a pickax, then pisses through it. But yeah, good dark series that's really kinda crazy. Jessica is a delicious asthmatic.
MEDP stopped being Engineering Idol and actually got to the work. I'm working in a group in which we are trying to make a handheld sewing machine for use in surgeries. I'm sure once I figure out how regular sewing machines work that'd be great.
Well, Saturday some panthers nearly gave me a heart attack and last night I had to get a bat out of my apartment. My luck with animals has been really weird lately and hopefully it won't become a tren--OH MY GOD THERE'S A BEAR IN MY OUTMEAL! |

[Aug. 28th, 2009|02:25 pm] |
So as I wait for the last class of the week to start, all I have to say is brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr...or whatever the onnomonopia for a shudder is.
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS DESIGN --- This one seems to be the least painful, mainly because the professor seems quite awesome. Of course the three papers in the next two weeks doesn't sound that fun, but I'll have to power through. Product liability + standards = the first sign that I have entered SRS BZNS.
INTERMEDIATE HEAT TRANSFER --- The winner of the "Pick you Poison" choices, taken over INT Fluid Mechanics and INT Deformable Bodies...don't they ALL sound fun? Also cursed with those classic thick-accented professors...which brings us to...
ENERGY SYSTEMS DESIGN --- Another thick accented professor going over (at least right now) the various different modes of energy and their effect on the climate. Also humorous in that one of the first things this professor said was "Al Gore is a hypocrite", bringing his (apparently) very big carbon footprint. I myself haven't done any research on the topic, so please don't debate it. First assignment was to read a 22 page climate report and write a 5 page single-spaced summary. Once again, SRS BZNS.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN PROJECT --- "I have had employers on multiple occasions ask me about a former student who had put me down as a job reference. I sent them that person's project from this class every single time." -- Prof Ratner. SRS FKN BZNS. Right now we have been listening to presentations from PEDE students (which is basically the full year version of this) and their project. Then three professors rip them apart ala American Idol, OH BOY!
IN ADDITION! The cafeteria job is a good way to get me up...and a good way to have me absolutely crashing at 6PM...this might be a looooooong semester. |

Well AI has come and gone and it was quite excellent. It's awesome when stuff doesn't go wrong in a con. Bought an awesome Boota hat and many many mangos.
So had my work orientation today at Hillcrest...not all that impressed but I wasn't expecting to be. Just a means of making money, but who knows? I might enjoy it...

New Okuu icon, Okuu's theme. I love my nuclear raven.
Back in Iowa and BORED. Although really I'm only bored because AI is approaching and is NOT HERE yet. At first I was really apathetic about it, but upon realizing about the people to visit and the general wackiness and the fact that I'm *NOT* going to be the designated driver from the apartment to the con (many thanks, Mike) means...if were lucky...a return of a very majestic character. Triply majestic. An quite intoxicated. Hopefully no Dolehide-esque antics will occur.
Really just sitting around because there's nothing to do, trying to figure out if I'm doubly employed as well since I got an email from the indorm convenience store in regards to what times I would be available to work. Which is interesting because they haven't said a damn thing about protocol or checkin or dress or anything...but it would be nice to have a weekend job in addition to the morning cafeteria work. More money, more not being broke, more bitches.

| The Venerable Ancient Battleground ~ Suwa Foughten Field |
[Aug. 6th, 2009|12:11 am] |
This time tomorrow I will be back in Iowa. This LA thing was fun, but I'm ready to head back to the land of Central time and being able to go out at night.
Second PiR trip was just as unsuccessful as the first, but this time I was basically RIGHT behind contestant's row. That ep airs November 5th and is the 7000th episode, so check it out.
5th Grader was also really fun to watch, although they changed the format to a VERY abusable "bank" system. Although that didn't really help the contestants much. I think I did pretty well on the questions, kind of a shame I wasn't the one up there.
Craig was hilarious, although sadly the episode I was there for has already aired. Maybe I can find the clip where he and Jeffrey Tambor did a fake PSA as JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyer. It was hilarious and it took them 4 takes because they couldn't stop breaking into laughter during said takes.
Saw Andy Dick in the LA Farmer's Market earlier today, of course I didn't say anything because I didn't feel like getting raped. |

[Aug. 3rd, 2009|04:39 pm] |
First of all, didn't get on. Although we're going again tomorrow afternoon (since we didn't win anything, we're allowed to come back and try again). The taping we went to today will air November 2nd. I was several rows behind Contestant's Row wearing a gold Iowa sweatshirt (which I will be wearing again tomorrow)
Second, WOW. Just the experience alone was worth the trip (and the waking up at 4AM, scaring the shit out of my family with my U.N. Owen Was Her? phone alarm). The stage is small...really small. Only 312 seats, so getting the fuck up early is key since it is first come first serve.
No Plinko, sadly, but amongst the games played were Spelling Bee and Dice Game, which are both awesome games. Perhaps tomorrow's taping will have Plinko...maybe with me on top of the board. Or Grand Game. Or Hole in One.
Drew is great and loves telling stories during prep for the next game, a fun one he told was about when he went backstage to a concert with his nieces and an extremely drunk Kid Rock went to his nieces and gave a slurred "stay in school, kids". He also (jokingly) referred to the day's big winner's husband as a pot dealer when he said his job was "distribution".
It really has to be something you have to do before you die, I was scared shitless about getting on but just IMAGINE what it's like to be on TV like that... |

| Lunatic Princess ~ Flight of the Bamboo Cutter |
[Aug. 2nd, 2009|06:42 pm] |
So this is LA. It's very....crowded...and...expensive...but at least I'm not paying for it.
First thing that has been happening was Universal, which is a good park...but really lacking compared to the Orlando park. Of course the Orlando park has a second park and few more roller coasters on it so...yeah.
Simpsons Ride is easily the best ride here at the LA park, which is basically the same as the Orlando incarnation (which barely scrapes into the Top 5 there). Also the Mummy ride here is pretty weak compared to the longer Orlando version. Backlot tour was pretty cool, though. The park was definitely doable in a single day.
Price is Right is tomorrow so here's hoping I rock it. Wednesday is Are You Smarter and Craig Ferguson. Might try and get a WB Studios tour.

| Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life |
[Jul. 30th, 2009|01:00 pm] |
Well it seems I now have a fall job...working the dorm cafeteria...I really REALLY wanted to avoid a food service job but I guess it couldn't have been helped. But talking to the guy it seems more a setup/cleanup job than a food service job, which I *guess* is a trade off. Although the way it seems I'll be working breakfast shifts...so we'll just see how that goes.
Heading out to LA tomorrow, looking forward to it especially since I don't have to worry about the employment issue. Don't know whether or not I'm gonna bring my lappy along or not...LA seems like one of those places where they'd charge up the ass for WiFi.
Been downloading Geass R2 just so I can finish it and see if Nina fucks more tables. On that note, for some reason I can see myself getting a shirt with a little chibi Nina and then a drawing of a table with "OTP" under it...just...shut up.
Downloaded Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier for my DS. So far it's been REALLY fun, it feels like a classic NES/SNES RPG and the battle system is nothing short of fantastic. One thing of note, however, are the tits. Lots and lots of tits, tit jokes, and clothing to accentuate said tits. It actually gets kinda absurd. |

| Reach of the Moon ~ Immortal Smoke |
[Jul. 22nd, 2009|02:52 pm] |
It's amazing when a flame long since extinguished suddenly burns again with intensity greater than ever. I'll leave whatever that means up to you, but the Mokou theme just felt like a good title today.
So I'm just sitting here in IC waiting for the download of the FFIV OCRemix album finishes up before driving back to DM. Had a fabulous crabulous time rocking out in CF for no real reason, just nice relaxing times.
Tried to do a quick 120 star Mario 64 run while up there but due to the N64 there being used for other purposes, I didn't have enough time and ended up only getting 98. Oh well, I'll finish it up next time I'm up there.
1cc'ed MoF and PCB on Easy a few days ago, feel proud about that. Already making dents in Normal mode, made it to Kaguya on my only two serious attempts so far on IN Normal (one with Rei/Yuk and one with Rem/Sak and can reach midboss Sanae in MoF. Haven't made any serious serious attempts on the others yet, especially since EoSD cheats at times...
Apparently when I go to LA, we're also gonna try and get into the audience for Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, which should be a really fun and interesting show to watch...if I can restrain myself from yelling out the answers.
I also heard a great joke while in CF. A very quick one, two words. Actually it's a name. Yeah. Schadenfreude at its best. |
